The Early Struggles

As you grow up, the pressures only increase. In school, you're told not to fight, even if you're being mistreated. But if you don’t fight back, you’re called weak. And then there’s the confusion of dressing how your mother says because "she knows better," yet, if you talk to girls, you’re called a playboy. If you don’t, they start worrying—are you gay?

There’s always a looming sense of either meeting or failing expectations. Do well in school, or you'll end up on the streets, because being an artist, an athlete, or an entrepreneur isn’t seen as a "real" option. It’s as though every decision leads to judgment—either you’re smart or you’re a failure, and there’s no in-between.
